Sequencing in Sierra Leone

One of our partners has an NIH-funded project to provide eye care to ebola survivors.

We were tasked with installing a sequencing capability at a lab in Sierra Leone, to enable the samples to be sequenced in-country. As part of this project, we used our BSL-3 experience with flexible film isolators to safely work with the local scientists in-country to inactivate and process the samples before sequencing.

Then provided training to four local scientists on lab aspects of sequencing and bioinformatic analysis of the sequencing data. Provided all the equipment, reagents, and consumables that were needed. Including the sequencer and high-powered laptop.
